Range of the projectile $R=\frac{u^{2}sin2\theta }{g}$

$\therefore$ Range is maximum when $sin2\theta =1$

$⟹$ $\theta ={45}^o$

Thus maximum range is achieved when $\theta ={45}^o$ and thus it depends on the angle of projection.

Also, in javelin throw, in order to throw the javelin to maximum far distance the athlete has to throw it at an exact angle of ${45}^o$ with the horizontal.

Hence both the assertion and the reason are incorrect.
