Solution

The correct option is D Both Assertion and Reason are incorrect
In TCA cycle or Krebs cycle, isomerization of citric acid into isocitric acid occurs due to the removal of one water molecule first and then an addition of another water molecule back which results in the conversion of citrate into its isomer, isocitrate. Hence, the assertion is incorrect.
Isocitrate is not stable than citrate as isocitrate loses a molecule of CO2 and forms a five-carbon compound which gets oxidized. Hence, the reason is also incorrect.
So, the correct answer is 'Both Assertion and Reason are incorrect'.
