In transistors, the emitter base junction is called the input circuit with the emitter being heavily doped to inject large number of charge carriers into the base. Whereas, the base collector jucntion is called the output circuit with lightly doped base to pass most of the emitter injected carriers to the collector. The output circuit is reverse bias providing high resistance and the input circuit is forward bias providing low resistance.But the current paths are exactly opposite. Current flowing through the input circuit is forwad bias allowing more diffusing current to flow through it thereby decreasing the resistance. The output circuit which is reverse bias does not allow this diffusion current to flow pass properly. Thus, the decrease in current makes it act as a high resistance.
