Solution
The correct option is D Both Assertion and Reason are incorrect
Insulin stimulates conversion of glucose to glycogen (glycogenesis) in
the target cells. Whereas, glucagon is a hyperglycemic hormone. Glucagon
acts mainly on the liver cells(hepatocytes) and stimulates
glycogenolysis resulting in an increased blood sugar (hyperglycemia). In
addition, this hormone simulates the process of glucogenesis which also
contributes to hyperglycemia. Prolonged hyperglycemia leads to a
complex disorder called diabetes mellitus.
So, the correct answer is 'Both Assertion and Reason are incorrect'.
