Assertion: Some ionic bonds are stronger than some covalent bonds and some covalent bonds are stronger than some ionic bonds and there is no pure ionic bond (each ionic bond has some covalent character) and the only pure covalent bonds are those between two atoms of the same element in molecules of elementary substances.
Reason: Bond breaking occur due to the collisions of the molecules to cause bond breaking as well as new bond formation.
