The correct option is D Assertion is incorrect but Reason is correct
Nitric oxide (NO). It has 15 electrons, i.e odd number of electrons. If we fill 2 electrons in each molecular orbital, then one electron remain in one molecular orbital lonely. This causes paramagnetic nature and it is paramagnetic.
In case of N2O, it has 22 electrons. So, even number of electrons. If we fill in the same way, no orbital has lonely filled electron. So it shows diamagnetism.
Valency of oxygen is 2. So valency of Nitrogen in NO is +2 and in N2O is +1. But reason is not correct explanation to assertion.
