The mRNA template is generated by the process of transcription of DNA. The length of chromosomes varies from 1 micron in some fungi to 30 microns in Trillium. All the chromosomes of a species may be of similar size (symmetrical karyotype) or of different size (asymmetrical karyotype). The average diameter of a nucleus is about 5 to 10 µm.
