In oogenesis, diploid oogonium develops into a primary oocyte by mitosis cell division but then arrest. It will finish this division as it develops in the follicle, giving rise to a haploid secondary oocyte and a smaller polar body by meiosis. Secondary oocyte again divides by second meiotic division and again give rise to two unequal sized cell. Larger of these two is known as ovum and smaller one is called as a second polar body. sometimes first polar body also divides simultaneously with secondary oocyte and give rise to two polar bodies. Thus in a complete oogenesis, three polar bodies and one functional female gamete or ovum through a meiotic division are formed. Thus, the correct answer is option B.
