Stomach secretes hydrochloric acid for digestion, however this also helps in preventing microbial growth as low pH is unsuitable for most microbes. Secretion of oil from the sebaceous gland and sweat from the sudoriferous gland makes the skin acidic in nature. Acidic pH does not allow the growth of microorganisms on the skin. Hence, we can infer that certain bodily secretions help in preventing infections. These are part of the innate immunity and are considered as physiological barriers. Thus, assertion is true but reason is false.
