Solution

The correct option is A Both Assertion and Reason are correct and Reason is the correct explanation for Assertion

Pitcher plants belong to the carnivorous plants and portray a different mechanism for trapping the prey. It has a deep fluid-filled cavity known as a pitfall trap, which attracts the insects by anthocyanin pigment or nectar bribes. The pitcher sides are slippery and are grooved in a way such that the insects cannot find their way out. The prey is digested completely and converted into amino acids, ammonia, urea, phosphates and peptides, from which the plant satisfies its nutritional demand.

So the correct option is 'Both Assertion and Reason are correct and Reason is the correct explanation for Assertion'
