Placenta connects the mother to the foetus during pregnancy. Foetus gets oxygen and nutrition from the mother and remove waste products and carbon dioxide from them to mother through the placenta. It also acts as endocrine (ductless gland). They produce several hormones like oestrogen and progesterone. Oestrogen stimulates the growth of the uterus to accommodate the growing foetus and also prepares the uterus for labour. It also stimulates the growth of mammary glands during pregnancy. Progesterone helps in maintaining the lining of the uterus to maintain the pregnancy. So, the correct option is B.
