The correct option is B Both Assertion and Reason are correct but Reason is not the correct explanation for Assertion.
Chlorine has two naturally occurring isotopes i.e. 35Cl and 37Cl. By considering the abundance of these two isotopes of chlorine in nature, relative atomic mass comes out to 35.5,
Hence, the assertion is correct.

The chlorine atom is very unstable when present in the monoatomic form. Hence, it combines with another atom of chlorine and exists as a diatomic molecule. But the reason given above is not the correct explanation for assertion.
