Constant activation or stimulation of voluntary muscles (skeletal muscles) leads to a decline in the amount of available ATP. This is then replenished by anaerobic and aerobic respiration. Evetually, if the constant stimulation continues, the rate of ATP production by respiration cannot cope with the requirements in the muscles. This results in fatigue.
