The correct option is B Both the Assertion and the Reason are true but the Reason is not the correct explanation of the Assertion.
Second generation vaccines are produced by genetic engineering or recombinant DNA technology. These vaccines consist of a few antigens present on the surface of the infecting agents rather than the whole inactivated organisms. The surface antigens are produced in huge quantities with the help of recombinant DNA technique. Then they are injected in safer dose to healthy individuals for development of immunity. Second generation vaccines are simple, safer and more potent.
Hence assertion is correct and reason is also correct but reason is the not the correct explanation for assertion.
So, the correct answer is 'Both the Assertion and the Reason are true but the Reason is not the correct explanation of the Assertion'.
