In the case of swimming, we exert force on the water in the backward direction while in return water pushes us in the forward direction. This is in accordance with Newton's third law of motion.While in case of the ball colliding with the wall. The ball exerts a force on the wall in its direction of motion and in return wall exerts a force on the ball in the direction opposite to the direction of the ball's motion.
