The second anlytical group of cations consist of ions that form acidinsoluble sulfides.
The reagent used can be any substance that gives S2 ions in such solutions, mostly H2S, thioacetamide is used. The test with the sulfide ion must be conducted in the presence of dilute HCl, so that the sulfide ion concentration is at minimum & precipitation of second group cations alone access.
