A chemical equation is the representation of total composition change related to the chemical reaction. It represents how reactants react to give a completely new product.

This means that the mass of a system of substances will remain constant, regardless of the processes acting inside the system. In other words, for any chemical equation, the mass of the reactants must equal the mass of the products.

Therefore, there must be the same number of atoms of each element on each side of a chemical equation. A properly balanced chemical equation shows this.

So Assertion and reason are correct but the reason is not the correct explanation for the assertion.
