Question

Assertion :The EMF generated by Faraday's law of induction due to relative movement of a circuit and a magnetic field is the phenomenon underlying electrical generators. Reason: When a permanent magnet is moved relative to a conductor, or vice versa, an electromotive force is created.

Solution

The correct option is A Both Assertion and Reason are correct and Reason is the correct explanation for Assertion
As Faraday's law states that whenever there is change of area (or change of magnetic flux) related to magnetic field then there will be an EMF produced. So in a electric generator there happens the change of area relative to magnetic field which produces further EMF and this change of area happens either by the movement of coil or by the movement of magnets related to coil. In case of electric generators, the coil is rotated by the application of external force, and hence the electricity is produced by the application of Faraday's laws.
Hence option A is correct.
