Solution
The correct option is C Assertion is correct but Reason is incorrect
The loss or excretion of water in the form of liquid droplets from the
leaves and other parts of an uninjured or intact plant is called
guttation. All plants do not show guttation. It is restricted to about
345 genera of herbaceous and some woody plants. It takes
place through special structures called hydathodes, that are usually
found on the margins and tips of the leaves. Common examples are found
in garden nasturtium, oat and other cereals, balsam, tomato, cucurbits. It usually occurs during periods of active growth when conditions
favour more water absorption and less transpiration. Guttation takes
place either at night or early in the morning.
So, the correct answer is 'Assertion is correct but Reason is incorrect'.
