Solution

The correct option is D Assertion is incorrect but Reason is correct.
Regulation of RBC production is not accomplished by FSH (Follicle Stimulating Hormone) but the regulation of RBC production is accomplished by erythropoietin hormone (EPO). Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) is a gonadotropic hormone that is secreted by the anterior pituitary gland. FSH causes gametogenesis and stimulates estrogen production from ovaries.
Erythropoietin is a glycoprotein hormone. It is produced by the kidney. When the oxygen level is low, EPO then circulates to the bone marrow, where it increases stem cell mitosis and speed up development of RBCs and thereby increase the oxygen-carrying capacity of the blood. Hence, option D is correct.
