Solution

The correct option is A Both Assertion and Reason are true and Reason is the correct explanation of Assertion
The solubility product (KSP) of Fe(OH)2 is 7.9×1015.
The solubility product (KSP) of Fe(OH)3 is 6.3×1038.
Hence, the solubility product of hydroxide of Fe2+ is higher than that of Fe3+. In other words, Fe(OH)2 is more soluble than Fe(OH)3. This is due to lower lattice energy of Fe(OH)2 than that of Fe(OH)3
