The correct option is B Both Assertion and Reason are correct but Reason is not the correct explanation for Assertion
The expression for gravitational potential at a distance x from first sphere will be

GMmxGMmdx=GMmdx(dx)

This expression increases till x=d2 and then decreases.

Field strength at center will be zero by symmetry since both will apply equal and opposite field. This only means that potential changes sign at the mid point.

Reason is not correct explanation for assertion.

Answer is option B.
