Question

Assertion :Two bodies of unequal masses m1 and m2 are dropped from the same height. If the resistance force offered by air to the motion of both bodies is the same, the bodies will reach the earth at the same time. Reason: For equal air resistance, acceleration of fall of masses m1 and m2 will be different.

Solution

The correct option is C Assertion is correct but Reason is incorrect
Assertion is correct because acceleration of both will be 'g' downwards and so the time to reach earth will be same. Reason is incorrect because acceleration will not be different as acceleration due to gravity is independent of mass of falling object.
