Solution

The correct option is A Both Assertion and Reason are correct and Reason is the correct explanation for Assertion
The secondary oocyte which is released during the ovulation has completed its first meiotic division and released one polar body during the ovulation.
This secondary oocyte is present in the second metaphase stage of meiosis II which is incomplete.
When the sperm reaches the oocyte it finishes its second meiotic division also.
So, the correct option is  'Both assertion and reason are correct and the reason is the correct explanation of the assertion.'
