Vas deferens carrying sperms join the ducts of seminal vesicles which form a short ejaculatory duct that passes through the prostate gland and open into the urethra. Urine from the kidney passes via the ureter to the urinary bladder where it gets stored and during urination, urine passes from the bladder to the urethra.

Thus, the urethra carries both urine and sperm and hence is referred to as the urinogenital tract.
