In circular motion a=ω2r which cannot be an equation of simple harmonic motion where a=ω2x. Therefore, assertion is incorrect.
In uniform circular motion, angular velocity is angular rate of rotation while in simple harmonic motion angular frequency is mainly frequency of oscillations converted to radians per second. They are not same. Therefore, reason is also incorrect.
