Smooth surfaces like ice, glass, wet floor etc offer less friction as they have very few irregularities. Due to less friction, the chances are that we can trip and fall down on such surfaces.
Whereas rough surfaces like rock and sand provide larger friction as they have more irregularities. Hence, it’s easier to walk on rough surfaces.
