A supersaturated solution is the one which contains more solute at a given temperature than is needed to form a saturated solution.
But the solute will crystallize if an additional crystal is added. A seed crystal provides a template for crystallization of the excess solute. The excess solute starts to form crystals on the nuclei.
Hence the assertion is false & the reason is true.
