Question

Assertion: When a particle moves in a circle with a uniform speed, its velocity and acceleration both changes.
Reason: The centripetal acceleration in circular motion is dependent on angular velocity of the body.

Solution

The correct option is A If both Assertion and Reason are true but the Reason is not the correct explanation of the Assertion
When a particle moves in a uniform circular motion, its speed as well as the centripetal acceleration is constant in magnitude but they continuously change their direction. Thus both the velocity and the acceleration changes in uniform circular motion.
Also the centripetal acceleration ac=rw2 where w is the angular velocity
Hence both assertion and the reason are true but reason doesnot explain the assertion.
