When light is incident at polarising angle, a particular component of electric field vector (i.e., a particular polarisation) completely passes to the other medium. Thus, the reflected light is completely polarised. Intensity decreases in polarisation. When unpolarised light is passed through one polariser, the intensity is reduced to half. So assertion is correct and reason is also correct but reason is not the correct explanation of assertion.
