Question

Assertion :When number of turns in a coil is doubled, coefficient of self-inductance of the coil becomes 4 times. Reason: This is because self inductance is directly proportional to the square of number of turns in a coil.

Solution

The correct option is A Both Assertion and Reason are correct and Reason is the correct explanation for Assertion
Self inductance of coil is given by,
L=μoπn2R2
from this we know that Self Inductance of coil depends on square of number of turns of the coil. Hence on doubling the number of turns, the Self Inductance becomes four times.
So, Both Assertion and Reason are correct, and Reason is correct explanation of Assertion.
