Question

At 27C it was observed in the hydrogenation of a reaction, the pressure of H2(g) decreases from 10 atm to 2 atm is 10 min. The rate of the reaction is 3×10xMmin1. Find the value of x.

[Given R = 0.08 L atm K1mol1]

Open in App
Solution

Rate=(102)atm10min=0.8atmmin1
Rate in Mmin1 is given by:

Rate =Δ(n/v)ΔtMmin1=ΔPΔt×1RT
0.80.08×300=0.03Mmin1

Rate of the reaction 3×10x=3×102

we get, x=2

The correct answer is 2.
