Question

At 291 K, the equivalent conductivities at infinite dilution of HCl,NaCl and CH3COONa are 369.3, 101.7 and 71.7 S cm2eq1 respectively. If equivalent conductivity of centinormal solution of acetic acid is 14.3 S cm2eq1, [H+] in solution of acetic acid is X×104. Value of X is:

Solution

As given,
Eq. conductance of CH3COOH=369.3101.7+71.7=339.3
so
α=14.3/339.3=0.041
so hydrogen ion conc.=cα=0.01×0.041=4×104
