Solution
The correct option is C3m/s
x1andxp are the intercepts of the same string, so x1+xp=constant . . . . (i)
Similarly, (x2−xP)+(x3−xp)=constant . . (ii)
Differentiating (i) & (ii) w.r.t. time t, we get V1+VP=0 . . . . (iii)
and V2−VP+V3−VP=0 ⇒V2+V3−2VP=0 . . . . (iv)
Using (iii) and (iv), we get V2+V3+2V1=0
Taking, upward direction as positive we are given, V1=V2=1m/s ∴V3=−3m/s
i.e. velocity of block 3 is 3 m/s (downwards).
