Question

At high pressure, the van der Waal's equation is reduced to :

A
(P+n2aV2)=nRT
loader
B
P(Vb)=nRT
loader
C
P(Vnb)=nRT
loader
D
PV=nRT
loader

Solution

The correct option is C $$P(V-nb)=nRT$$
According to vander waal's equation,
$$\left [P+\dfrac {n^2a}{V^2}\right ][V-nb]=nRT$$
At high pressure, $$a/V^2$$ can be neglected in comparison to $$P$$ so equation becomes :
$$P[V-nb]=nRT$$
$$PV=nRT+nPb$$
$$PV > nRT$$
