Question

At identical temperature and pressure, the rate of diffusion of H2 is 33 times to that of alkyne. The number of carbon atoms in alkyne are .....

Solution

As we know,
rate of diffusion of a gas is inversely proportional to square root of molar mass so
r1/r2=M2/M1
33=M/2
M=54
So, alkyne is CH3CH2CCH
and no. of carbon are 4.
