Question

at infine dilution the molar conductivity of Na+ and So4(2-) ion are 50 siemen centimeter square mol-1 and 160 siemen centimeter square mol-1 respect what will be the molar cunductivities of sodium sulphate at infinite dilution

Solution

Dear Student ,
We know by Kohlrausch's law for strong electrolytes at infinite dilution ,

Λm0 = λ+0 + λ-0

Similarly, for Na2SO4 we can write, Λm0(Na2SO4 ) = 2*λ Na+0 + λ SO4--0

This implies, Λm0(Na2SO4 ) = (2*50) + 160 = 260 S Cm2 mol-1

Hence the required molar conductivity of sodium sulphate at infinite dilution is 260 S Cm2mol-1

I hope you understood. Keep posting.
