Question

At what ponts dipole field intensity is parallel to the line joining the charges?

Open in App
Solution

At a point on the axis of line joining the two charges .

Point must be near to the positive charge because at this point electric field due to dipole will be acting along the same direction,i.e., angle between dipole vector and field vector is zero.

Consider an electric dipole whose length is 2a and centre at O. From the mid-point O, consider a point at the distance r, where the electric field intensity is to be determined.
