Solution

The correct option is D 341.25 C
Velocity of sound in air at 0 C is, v0=330 m s1
Let the temperature at which the velocity of sound is 1.5 times the value of v0, be T
So, vT=1.5×330=495 m s1
The temperature should be in kelvin (K) with 0 C=273 K
We know that,
vT

vTv0=T273

Given: vTv0=1.5

(1.5)2=T273

T=273×2.25=614.25 K

In Celsius scale, T=614.25273=341.25 C
