At which stage of human evolution, colonisation and communal living began?
Homo erectus stage
After the stages Dryopithecus and Australopithecus, a group went on to evolve into the genus Homo. Homo habilis is said to be among the first species of this genus, succeeded by Homo erectus which is where colonisation and communal living are supposed to have begun. They resided in huts/caves and used animal skins for protection from the cold climate. The stone tools that they made were also better than those made by H. habilis.
