Atmospheric pressure is the amount of downward force exerted by the air surrounding us on the unit surface of the earth.
The atmospheric pressure changes with altitude as the density of the air decreases and the air becomes scarcer.
As altitude increases, atmospheric pressure decreases.
As we know, the density of air increases near the earth's surface (due to gravity) and gradually decreases as we ascend to higher altitudes, eventually leading to empty space, i.e. outside the earth's atmosphere.
As a result, the atmospheric pressure is high at lower altitudes due to the higher density. At higher altitudes, the atmospheric pressure is low and the density is low.
