During the Calvin cycle, three molecules of CO2 are required to produce one molecule of the three carbon glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate (G3P) and two molecules of G3P are needed to generate one molecule of glucose.
Therefore, the Calvin cycle needs to make a total of 6 turns to produce a glucose molecule.
Each turn of the Calvin cycle requires 3 molecules of ATP and 2 molecules of NADPH, so for 6 turns 18 ATPs and 12 NADPH are required.
