Describe Valli’s interaction with people while she was riding the bus to the town. What does this tell you about Valli’s character?

Valli was travelling alone in a bus for the first time. Valli pretended to be confident in front of the conductor when he offered her help to ride the bus. This shows her confidence and independent nature. She enjoys every bit of her journey to the town. The elderly woman who was sitting beside Valli in the bus looked absolutely repulsive to Valli. She had big holes in her ears and had ugly earrings in them. She did not relish the smell of the betel nut that she was chewing. She could not be social with such a woman. When the curtain covered the lower part of the window, she stood on her seat to look outside. At this, an elderly man asked her to sit down lest she should fall. Valli did not take his advice. She told him angrily that she was not a child. She said that she had paid the full fare like other passengers. All of this shows that Valli was self-confident and had the courage to take risks.
