Entomophily is a type of pollination in which insects are the pollinating agents. Insects are biotic agents and hence require attractants and rewards to carry out pollination. Majority of insect-pollinated flowers are large (to make them conspicuous), colourful and fragrant (to attract insects) and rich in nectar (as reward). Example: pollination of lotus by bees.

Anemophily is wind pollination and hydrophily is water pollination. Both wind and water are abiotic and hence do not need attractants and rewards.

Cleistogamy refers to self pollination within a closed flower and is independent of external pollinating agents.
