Question

Aunt Susanne baked a batch of cookies. She gave 15th of the batch to Alice, 630th of the batch to Ron, and 35th of the batch to Max. Two among them get the same number of cookies. Who are they?

Solution

Fraction of cookies given to Alice
=15

Fraction of the cookies given to Ron
=630

Fraction of the cookies given to Max
=35

But 630=1×65×6=15

(Cancelling the 6s)

Thus, 630 and 15 are equivalent fractions.

35 > 15 as 3>1

Hence, Alice and Ron get the same number of cookies. Also, not all of them get the same number of cookies.
