Solution

The following consequences followed after the insult of Shivaji by Aurangzeb:

  • Shivaji escaped from Agra and declared himself an independent king. Then, he resumed his campaigns against the Mughals.
  • Prince Akbar rebelled against Aurangzeb and received support from the Marathas.
  • Aurangzeb could not remain silent. He personally managed campaigns in the Deccan against the Marathas who started guerrilla warfare, which was very difficult to suppress.
  • This led to endless war and exhaustion of Mughal treasury. Aurangzeb died in his Deccan Conquest naturally.
