Solution

An autoimmune disease is caused when the immune system of the body cannot recognise the healthy 'self' cells and becomes immune against them. It results in the nonselective killing of the body cells by the immune system, giving rise to a disease. Some common autoimmune diseases are SCID, rheumatoid arthritis, Addison's disease, Grave's disease etc.
