Solution

The correct option is A Colchicine

Colchicum autumnale, commonly known as the autumn crocus or meadow saffron, a member of the Colchicaceae plant family, produces the antimitotic “colchicine”. Colchicine inhibits microtubule polymerization by binding to tubulin, which is a main constituent of microtubules. Microtubules play a role in the migration of chromosomes to opposite ends of a mitosing cell during the anaphase. Therefore, availability of tubulin is necessary for mitosis. Hence, colchicine effectively functions as a "mitotic poison" or spindle poison. Also, in addition to inhibiting mitosis, colchicine also inhibits neutrophil motility and activity, that causes an overall anti-inflammatory effect that is useful in the treatment of acute gout. Therefore, the correct answer is option C.
