Awareness about the problems caused by unthinkingly exploiting our resources has been a fairly recent phenomenon in our society. It is very important to spread awareness regarding such issues. There are many organizations which are involved in the spreading awareness about environmental issues and promote activities for the conservation of environment and natural resources. One such plan is Ganga Action Plan. This project came due to the poor quality of the water in the Ganga. Coliform are group of bacteria, found in human intestines. Their presence in Ganga water indicates contamination by disease-causing organisms.
