The lewis structure of BF3 is shown in the figure. It can be clearly seen from the figure that the number of electrons on the outermost shell is 6 and hence the central boron atom does not have a complete octet. Hence BF3 acts as a Lewis acid.

The central boron atom in BF3 is sp2 hybridized and hence it has a trigonal planar structure. Hence Statement 1 is incorrect whereas statement 2 is correct
